Mercedes-AMG Coupé WILL.I.AMG: with G-Class front end by Will.i.am
Now the cat is out of the bag! For days, Mercedes-AMG made a scene on Instagram with various mysterious teasers. Together with the artist Will.i.am, the folks from Affalterbach have put on a spectacular show. As part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Miami 2022, the special conversion “WILL.I.AMG” from the “The Flip” project will be publicly displayed for the first time!

Mercedes-AMG presents Will.i.am as its brand ambassador in September 2021. Under the slogan “Everything but quiet”, William James Adams Jr., as Will.i.am is called by his full name, presents the 843 hp Performance Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE in a 60-second film.
The base is a 4-door Mercedes-AMG GT
Now collaboration has been taken to the next level. Based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door, Will.i.am, in collaboration with renowned US tuner West Coast Customs, has created a spectacular vehicle that is only slightly reminiscent of the 4-door GT.
Two doors instead of four: the only spectacular one doesn’t have much in common with the base vehicle, the 4-door Mercedes-AMG GT.
Let’s start with the angular front, which was taken over almost one-on-one from the Mercedes G-Class. Round headlights are housed in a square housing, including additional air inlets with the AMG logo. The grille comes with bars, and even the logo is completely new. Here, Will.i.am comes with a bear-like symbol incorporating the Mercedes star.
Under the name “Bear Witness” there will be a limited collection of clothing and accessories, which were also created in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG and will be available from 6 May 2022 at 6 pm.
But back to the car: air gaps can be seen in the hood, which should be reminiscent of the SLS AMG. The side view is much more spectacular, as this former four-door sedan has become a two-door coupe with rear-hinged suicide doors, whose silhouette resembles that of a Rolls-Royce Wraith.
Angle stripes are also visible in the profile, along with air-guiding elements that define the force that extends from the front fender to the rear.
Machine untouched
There are currently no rear view images. But you can see that the “WILL.I.AMG” has two glass roof inserts – all reminiscent of the Sky View option from Bugatti. The chromed AMG monoblock rims, on the other hand, are a reference to the base vehicle.
Not yet informed which version of the AMG GT 4 doors. However, it’s likely that the top model GT 63 SE Performance with the 843 hp advertised by Will.i.am is the base.
A six-part documentary series called “Drive” has been made for complex conversions, which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Anyone who now thinks that the one-off is an eccentric self-portrait is wrong, because Will.i.am and Mercedes-AMG want to achieve more with the “The Flip” project. The aim of this project is a good cause in which socially disadvantaged students should have easier access to subjects such as mathematics, IT, natural sciences and technology to learn better skills for future oriented professions.
Against this backdrop, a portion of the proceeds from the “Bear Witness” collection and all other campaigns related to this unique work will be donated to the will.i.am “i.am.angel Foundation”.
