The New Generation DAF XD will launch in September at the IAA in Hanover, Germany. The DAF XD is based on the ‘International Truck of the Year 2022’ platform; DAF XF, XG and XG+ trucks.
The long range properties of these trucks – including aerodynamics, drivetrains, seating position and finish – are now also being introduced by truck manufacturer Eindhoven in the distribution segment.
With a large windshield and large side windows with low window lines, the new DAF offers the best direct view in its segment; important in urban distribution. The low cab position also contributes to optimal direct visibility. As well as the optional Curb View Window – an additional window in the door on the passenger side. Optimal indirect vision is guaranteed thanks to the Angle View and DAF Digital Camera System.
Low fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions are achieved by, among other things, updated cab aerodynamics, a new PACCAR MX-11 powertrain and an advanced driver assistance system. The DAF Connect fleet management system saves time thanks to over-the-air software updates. Truck manufacturers offer a wide selection of power take-offs, body attachment modules and connections.
The DAF XD offers the driver good access to a spacious (10 m3) cabin. The unrivaled range of seat and handlebar adjustment guarantees the best seating position in its segment. The beautiful and highly ergonomic dashboard features a clear, fully digital display. The front of the chassis is completely redesigned, together with new cabin suspension and new rear axle suspension, providing comfort and good handling.
Ready for the future
The New Generation DAF XD will be available next to the DAF CF distribution truck. Production is slated to begin in the fall of 2022. Naturally, the DAF XD platform is fully ready to accommodate all types of powertrains, including alternative ones.
