The updated RAV4 uses Toyota’s latest multimedia system with a new 10.5-inch display. By default, the system has a cloud-based navigation feature, which allows it to be constantly updated and can display live traffic events. Smartphone integration is also standard, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Communicating by car is easier than ever. By saying ‘Hi Toyota’ followed by a request, the system will respond. For example, after the sentence ‘I’m hot’, the car closes the windows and lowers the temperature control.
In the updated RAV4, drivers can see more information at a glance about the new instrumentation. From the 2023 model year, every RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid of the ‘Dynamic’ equipment tier will receive 12.3-inch digital instrumentation. Drivers can choose from four styles and three layouts and there are also personalization options required, so they can choose exactly what information is displayed.
The Toyota Safety Sense function pack is expanded with a new version of the Pre-Collision System (PCS) with junction support. This allows the car to recognize oncoming traffic and pedestrians that are about to cross in the direction the car is driving. The system warns the driver and can brake if necessary to help avoid a collision. The new Emergency Steering Assist helps the driver avoid pedestrians stepping on the road, while keeping the car under control and in the lane. In Plug-in RAV4, the system will also recognize and respond to parked bicycles and vehicles. The PCS of the RAV4 Plug-in will also be able to detect oncoming traffic in the car’s lane and reduce the risk of a collision from the front.
Along with the model year update, a new exterior color was also introduced: Platinum White Pearl. The color will be available on all versions of the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, with the exception of Adventure. The new pearl white color can also be combined with the contrasting black roof on various versions.
Production of the new RAV4 will begin this fall. By the end of the year, the first copies are expected at Toyota Dutch dealers. Like all other Toyota models, the RAV4 has a warranty period of up to 10 years and 200,000 kilometers.
