Light signs are more expressive thanks to the new slimmer DS PIXEL LED VISION 3.0 headlamps and DS LIGHT VEIL daytime running lights. The DS WINGS and grille are sharper, while the lower parts of the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned with new colors depending on the trim. The vortex-effect LED taillight design is also new and features a dark metallic finish. The tailgate and DS logo have been redesigned with sharper lines, while the ‘DS AUTOMOBILES’ name now appears on the back instead of ‘Crossback’.
Wheels play a major role in the side view of the DS 7. The 19-inch ‘EDINBURGH’ and ‘SILVERSTONE’ alloy wheels not only look modern, but also enhance the aerodynamics of the SUV. The DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 comes with exclusive 21-inch ‘BROOKLYN’ alloy wheels. Moldings around the windows, such as the roof rails, are available in a Gloss Black variant to emphasize the dynamism of the silhouette.
DS PIXEL LED VISION 3.0 is a new technology that adds an extra dimension to the DS 7. The PIXEL module is distinguished by optimal light output, while maintaining the three characteristic modules in the headlights for all versions. The PIXEL function claims a stronger beam, while the high beam range has been increased to 380 meters. At speeds below 50 km/h, a beam of light shines as wide as 65 meters. Inside the PIXEL module are two low beam modules and a side light that together illuminate the path. On the outside, the main beam module is equipped with 84 LEDs in three rows. Lighting around the corner is controlled by the PIXEL module’s external LEDs, based on the steering angle.
The new DS 7 daytime running lights are inspired by the DS X E-TENSE and DS AERO SPORT LOUNGE. The DS LIGHT VEIL consists of daytime running lights and four vertical light points consisting of 33 LEDs. This innovation stems from the manufacturing process: a laser-engraved polycarbonate surface is painted on the inside, providing an alternate appearance of light and body color. This creates an effect of depth and clarity, inspired by gems. The DS LIGHT VEIL turns on and off when the DS 7 is locked and unlocked.
Powertrains
The new DS 7 E-TENSE 225 has a PureTech 180 petrol engine and a 110 hp electric motor combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The new DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 300 and DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 both have a PureTech 200 petrol engine and are four-wheel drive thanks to electric motors in the front and rear axles (110 and 112 hp).
The new DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 has been specially tuned by DS PERFORMANCE, specifically by optimizing energy management. This version also has a lower chassis and more powerful brakes with 380 millimeter discs on the front axle. The new BROOKLYN exclusive 21-inch alloy wheels are available in Lacquered Gray with a pearl finish. The top version of the DS 7 range accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.
For all plug-in hybrid versions of the DS 7, electrical energy is supplied by a 14.2 kWh battery. In theory, this means a 100% electric range of up to 65 km in the combined WLTP cycle and up to 81 km in the City WLTP cycle. The battery can be fully charged in about two hours via the 7.4 kW charger.
infotainment
The infotainment system is one of the biggest improvements over the DS 7. This IRIS DS SYSTEM introduces a completely redesigned interface that is fully configurable, reactive and seamless, and also supports natural speech recognition. The redesigned 12-inch touchscreen displays a menu with widgets, with which navigation system functions, climate control, audio sources and travel information can be accessed at the touch of a finger. This screen also makes it possible to display the front and back views provided by the new HD camera. The display also offers access to the Mirror Screen function via WiFi. The instrument panel, which is also 12 inches in size, offers new graphic elements for important drive information, such as energy management in the plug-in hybrid version.
The new DS 7 also introduces technologies for greater comfort and relaxation, such as the DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION. This camera-controlled damping system controls each wheel independently based on the unevenness of the road surface. In addition, DS NIGHT VISION can detect cyclists, pedestrians and animals at a distance of up to 100 meters by scanning highways with infrared technology. The driver receives information on the new digital instrument panel, which is amplified by special warnings about possible hazards.
Security is enhanced thanks to DS DRIVER ATTENTION MONITORING which monitors the driver’s attention using two cameras. The first monitors the behavior of the car in its environment and the second, positioned opposite the driver, detects driver fatigue by monitoring eye, facial and eyelid movements. This technology is also unprecedented in this segment. Furthermore, the new DS 7 is equipped with DS DRIVE ASSIST, an adaptive cruise control that can initiate braking and acceleration on its own without driver intervention.
The First DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360
On the occasion of the introduction of the new DS 7, this model is available in a limited edition as the DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 LA PREMIÈRE. This particular version is based on the DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 OPÉRA and has distinctive features such as a black logo, special badge and Gloss Black finish for the front spoiler lip, DS WINGS, grille, window molding and roof rails. For the interior, there is a choice of Basalt Black and Pearl Gray theme colors. For the exterior, there are six body colors to choose from: Lacquered Grey, Sapphire Blue, Pearl White, Perla Nera Black, Platinum Grey, and Crystal Pearl.
