News: Ford Launches Custom E-Transit

The Ford E-Transit Custom follows in the footsteps of its older brother, the fully electric E-Transit, which began production last March. The E-Transit Custom is the first of four all-electric commercial vehicles that the Ford Pro will introduce before 2024. Ford has designed its latest model in such a way that the company can easily switch to an electric-powered variant.

The all-electric successor to Europe’s best-selling commercial vehicle1,2 has been rebuilt from the ground up to match the Ford Pro business solution. E-Transit Custom is a platform powered by Ford Pro’s software and charging, service and financing solutions to increase uptime and reduce operating costs.

The Ford E-Transit Custom all-electric powertrain provides a theoretical driving range of up to 380 kilometers (WLTP), perfect for DC fast charging and no compromise on towing weight, supply equipment, lighting and onsite equipment.

The Ford E-Transit Custom is expected to enter production in the second half of 2023 and will then be part of the most comprehensive range of Custom Transits in Europe to date. All variants of the Ford Transit Custom are manufactured by Ford Otosan, a Ford joint venture in Turkey’s Kocaeli province. This is the European Transit production house. The start of production is part of the previously announced €2 billion investment by Ford Otosan for the facility.

Ford, SK On Co., Ltd. and Koç Holding also recently signed a memorandum of understanding for a leading joint venture to realize one of Europe’s largest battery production facilities for commercial vehicles. The target is to start production in 2025 with an annual capacity of 30 to 45 gigawatt hours.
