With modifications, the UX takes advantage of Lexus’ new multimedia system, with faster response, more intuitive operation and greater functionality. Depending on the class of equipment, this model is equipped with an 8 or 12-inch display, with touchscreen technology replacing the previous trackpad operation. Both screens are larger than before and positioned 143mm closer to the driver for comfortable operation. They promise sharper images combined with significantly increased computing power.

The new voice recognition system makes it possible to use the on-board assistant “Hey Lexus”. This makes it easier to use voice commands to make calls, control audio and climate control, and search the Internet. It extracts information from the Internet, which can be used, for example, to query the nearest fuel price and other local information. The system is programmed to understand more conversational terms and better recognize commands when there is background noise; the music doesn’t have to be muted and the microphone recognizes whether the driver or front passenger is speaking.

Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay (wireless connection) or Android Auto is standard on every Lexus UX and multimedia system software updates can be delivered wirelessly using the car’s DCM (data communication module). The center console houses a USB-A port for playback of high-quality sound sources and two USB-C ports for device charging.

A new addition to the UX lineup is the F SPORT Design trim. This trim makes the F SPORT’s powerful exterior styling accessible to more customers with its F SPORT spindle grille, which features a Lexus L-pattern mesh pattern, in a black finish with chrome trim for the underside. The same pattern can be found on the fog lamp housings and cornering lamps on the F SPORT’s front bumper, with contrasting L-shaped chrome bezels. The rear bumper also features a special F SPORT design, with a jet black roof spoiler and molding around the headlight units. The 18-inch F SPORT light alloy wheels feature a 10-spoke design and a dark metal finish.

Also standard F SPORT Design features include faux leather seats, electric heated front seats, dual-zone automatic air conditioning with Lexus Nanoe-X air quality system, reverse camera, automatic windshield wipers, LED headlights with auto high beam, chrome roof rails. , black wheel arch trim and Lexus “F” badge.

The UX F SPORT line is also being expanded. Previously optional Adaptive Variable Suspension and front and rear performance bars are now standard equipment on the version. All UX versions also benefit from increased body rigidity.

For the first time, the Sonic Platinum color is available in UX. This particular finish uses Lexus’ sonic paint technology, where a layer a few microns thick distributes metal flakes in the paint more densely and evenly, creating extra shine and deeper shadows on the car body. Six colors are available for the F SPORT Line and F SPORT Design models, which can be combined with a contrasting black roof. A new Hazel color option is available in the interior.

The Lexus UX’s powertrain remains unchanged: it remains available as the UX 250h with a 135 kW / 184 hp hybrid powertrain and the UX 200 with a 2.0-liter petrol engine with 127 kW / 173 hp. This fall, the updated Lexus UX will be available at Dutch dealers. Prices will be announced soon.
